This was one of the easiest letters to accomplish. I promised Mini-ion #1 that this summer would be the summer of parks, and it pretty much has been. When we’ve been home, at least once a week we’ve been playing at a park. Almost to my downfall, because now every morning Mini-ion #1 wants to know where we’re going so he can go play with his friends. Even the other day, after playing for four or five hours with his friends, as we were leaving, he wanted to know where we were going so he could play with more friends.
My favorite trick is to take them to a park to play with their friends. As they get tired and hungry, I’ve packed their lunch and bring it with me to the grocery store. They sit much more quietly in the grocery cart, eating their lunch, after expending energy at the park. Then Mini-ion #2 falls asleep in the car on the way home, so she’ll sleep peacefully in the car while Mini-ion #1 and I unload the groceries, put them away and make me a lunch to eat quietly while Mini-ion #1 has some downtime playing with himself. We’ve really given our local parks a workout this summer. But it makes me so happy to see them running around, climbing, jumping and exploring.
